Aviation Riddle
Being around aviation all my life made me think about this one. If you put an airplane on a conveyer belt and make the conveyer belt move in the opposite direction at the same speed as the plane will the plane take off? Why or why not.

This is just a guess from a guy who hasn't had a science class in 23 years, but I'm going to say it won't take off.
If the conveyor belt is moving at the same speed as the plane, the plane would essentially stay in the same place, right? So it seems to me there wouldn't be the necessary air current moving across the wings to create lift.

Well, no huge surprise there.
When will the answer be revealed if no one else responds?

Alright sorry forgot. Here is the answer the plane would take off because unlike a car the planes enersia comes from the propeller and the car's comes from the wheels. The tires wouldn't move on a car because they are on the ground. Therefore the planes tires would move at twice the speed as normal.
