ASU Mountaineers

If I have posted my quiz on football four days later I would have been able to
add Appalachian State is the the first 1-AA team to defeat a 1-A team, Michigan. Three points I would like to make in my humble opinion-and I do mean humble.
1. Lots of people have posted on web sites about Michigan's coach and his poor judgement calls such as going for the 2 points after Michigan's touchdowns. Whatever. I DO know that not much has been posted about Jerry Moore's winning the 2005 & 2006 Coach of the Year by the American Football Coach Assoc. He is a great coach. He studied the tapes and made Michigan play his game. USA Today has a great article on this subject.
2. I think it is a shame that sportswriters were not able to vote to place APP in the top 25. Michigan is not the only team in the top 25 that could fall to the Mountaineers on any given day. In fact there are some in the top 25 that would fall to them most days. It's all about the money!
3. The win was NOT a fluke! Armanti Edwards, kicker Rauch and safety Corey Lynch ( blocked not one but two field goal attemptsl) didn't lose their cool in the last minutes, rather minute, of the game.
It's great to be a mountaineer!
PS Appalachian State was ranked as 2001 Time magazine College of the Year and has been ranked for the last 15 years in Top Schools in the South in US News and Reports. Enough already about ' unknown ' little school.

ASU

For many years Appalchian State has been a power in division1AA and now they dominated a highly ranked IA team. Kudos to the entire team and university-its about time they got some credit.
Many big IA tems schedule a "small" college team to op-en their season thinking that they can get an easy victory. Now they all better think about this practice.
In addition , many !A teams "run up" the score when they play the smaller schools. This is reprehensive!
ASU,SW Missouri State, Southern Georgia, Delaware,Idaho , and NW Louisiana are some of the really good IAA schools.

Having attended a school in App. State's conference, I had the dubious honor of seeing many a butt-kickin' at the hands of App. State. The Citadel actually had a pretty good team (by 1-AA standards) in the early 90's when I was there, but that didn't help much against them Mountaineers. Furman, Georgia Southern and App. State pretty much own the Southern Conference.
