Call me old fashioned, but to me it doesn't get any better than The Sound of Music. It has it all; love of family, love of country and of course, Julie Andrews. A close second would be It's a Wonderful Life starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. The tears start flowing every time I see Clarence get his wings.
Does anyone remember the alternate ending of It's a Wonderful Life as seen on "Saturday Night Live" years back when George (played by Dana Carvey) finds Mr. Potter and kicks his butt for stealing Uncle Billy's money?
