Our life-giving Sun will probably be the cause of our death as well. Astronomers' predictions are that in a few billion years the Sun will become a Red Giant and its radius will expand so much that it will actually envelop our planet. However, there is a possibility that the expanding of the Sun will cause the Earth to move into a not-so-dangerous orbit. There is even a chance that humans will be able to initiate such a shift into the orbit of the Earth and to save it.
There is also a prediction that life on our planet will be dead long before the explosion of the Sun, so nobody will care anyway.
