Sun Facts

The Sun is about 149,600,000 km (92,950,000 mi) away from the Earth and sunlight travels at about 299,792,458 meters/sec (186,282 miles per second). It means that when you watch the sunrise, the Sun has already risen 8 minutes ago. The Sun has used up about half of the hydrogen in its core since its birth, 4.5 billion years ago. The temperature of its core is about 15,000,000 C (27,000,000 F), but the surface is much "colder"- about 5,500 C (9932 F).
