The smallest known snail shell belongs to the Ammonicera rota (this creature is so small, that it doesn't even have a common name) and measures just 0.02in (0.5mm). Just for comparison, the largest land snail known is the Giant African Land Snail, which grows up to 15.5 inches (39cm) from head to tail. Being a "snail" is actually not so bad- some land snails can lift ten times their own weight up a vertical wall and have the ability to glide over the sharp edge of a knife without harming themselves. And the best thing of all is that a snail can sleep up to three years!
