  Fact

Is Eating Carrots Really Good For Your Eyes?

Actually, no. You'd probably be disappointed to know that what your mother told you about carrots is just an urban legend. Lack of Vitamin A (contained in carrots) can cause poor vision, which can be repaired by adding more Vitamin A to the diet. However, carrots cannot make your normal vision better. The misconception can be traced back to World War II, when British gunners lead the Germans to believe that they managed to shoot down German planes in the dark because of their superior eyesight as a result of consuming many carrots. The truth behind their success was actually the discovery of radar technologies.
