The common house fly has the shortest natural life of all insects- it lives between 17 and 29 days. However, nature makes up to them, by making them extremely prolific- if all the offspring survived, a single couple of flies would create 5,598,720,000,000 flies in just 4 months. The fact that flies carry about 30 diseases (for example parasitic worms, bubonic plague and spinal meningitis) is quite horrifying, but these diseases aren't the only way a fly can kill a man. A fly got stuck in the throat of Pope Adrian VI and the poor man choked to death.
