Chicken Eggs


The chicken breed that lays most of the eggs we eat is the White Leghorn, also known as the Livornese, named after the Italian city of Leghorn/Livorno. On average, they lay about 300 eggs per year. The record for laying the most eggs in a day by a chicken is seven. The largest chicken egg on record was nearly 12 oz., measuring 12 1/4" around.
