Studies show that as of 2005, Tinea pedis, usually called athlete's foot, is the most common skin infection in humans. The fungus afflicts up to 70% of the world's population, and most people will get it at least once in their lifetime. The infection manifests when the skin between the toes becomes soft and peels away, and it may even crack and ooze.
