Floods are a major problem in many countries. But who would expect a flood of beer? The London parish of St. Giles has experienced such a disaster- on 17 October 1814 a brewery tank containing 3,500 barrels ruptured and the wave of beer demolished two houses and killed nine people. There was so much beer that it dashed people against walls and swept them off their feet.
