The Eurovision Song Contest is a popular contest held every year in May among European countries that are members of the European Broadcasting Union. Each one of these countries submits a song, then other countries vote for the most popular song. It's one of the longest-running television shows in the world and one of the most-watched non-sporting event internationally. The contest is famous for its kitsch music, crazy and wacky performances, misuse of special effects, as well as for the political nature of the votes.
